A Brief History
Brindisa was established by Monika Linton and her brother Mark Lavery in 1988 with a pallet of Rioja wine and a box of Spanish cheese. From these modest beginnings, Brindisa has become Britain’s foremost importer, distributor and retailer of the finest Spanish food.
The Brindisa of today is made up of a fantastic group of people each bringing their share of dedication, hard work, knowledge, experience and skill to the ever-growing challenge of selling excellent food to the professionals and the public of Britain. We are pleased that so many people have taken to our products and understood their quality; many of these had never been tasted outside Spain before Brindisa but, much to the joy of the producers, their following is growing.
Over the years Brindisa has had valuable input from key partners: including Mark Lavery who planted the idea in Monika’s head, Emma Ranson who had more energy than a football team, and Scott Boden who built the framework in which we now function.
Monika Linton - Managing Director of Brindisa Ltd.
Monika combined her student day interests of Spanish language and teaching in her drive to set up Brindisa. Steadily a great future has been realised through Monika’s passion for Spain and the outstanding foods to be found there. Brindisa now represents over 500 products of excellent quality and procures from every region of Spain. The business has continued to grow organically year-on-year, never forsaking the guiding principles of quality and friendliness.
Monika now combines bringing up a young family with leading a growing team at Brindisa.
