The Great Taste Award Winners 2022

This years Great Taste award winners for 2022 were announced this week. We were thrilled to see eleven Brindisa products receive 1 to 2 stars!

Brindisa Pure Empeltre Black Olive Pasta

"An initial burst of fruitiness and tang before the hit of salt makes this delightful to eat. The acidity complements and hits just the right without overpowering the tapenade. This taste is very fresh and the smoothness of paste makes this very moreish. We were left with an aftertaste of pure olives. We really like that this is made with just olives."

Cañarejal Cremoso

"A beautiful cheese in prime condition. Flowing silky paste with pleasing level of salt and slight acidity. The rind has a great toothsome texture and a gentle mushroomy flavour. This would be the star of any cheeseboard."

"Well-seasoned and well-balanced flavours come through in this cheese and there is a pleasant lactic tang. A fun-tasting and unique-looking cheese with a smooth uniform paste and beautiful balance. Well-seasoned and creamy with a slight bitterness towards the end which increases on eating more."

Galmesan | Galacian Parmesan-style cheese

"This is a beautiful looking cheese with evident crystals and a lovely mouth-watering aroma. Bursting with rich caramel nutty flavours, and perfect salt levels. This has clearly been matured for a long time with beautiful fruity fresh umami flavours. The length is what really blew us away, lasting so pleasantly for a long time on the palate."

"A beautiful piece of cheese, uniform in texture, crumbly with a soft and creamy smooth mouthfeel after the initial crumbly bite. The deep savoury, salty flavours open out as the cheese melts on the tongue, revealing multifaceted character that makes this cheese stand out. The saltiness is well-balanced and we were left wanting more!"

Brindisa Tarta de Santiago Almond Cake

"A stunningly beautiful, homely looking cake. Perfectly thin and even based, with a gorgeous golden almond filling. The filling is soft with just the right amount of bite. The pastry is soft and buttery. "

Núñez de Prado Organic Unfiltered Extra Virgin Olive Oil

"A lovely aroma of grassy fields coming through on the nose, with a green tinge to it's colour. On initial pouring, it seemed quite thick and this viscosity seemed to leave a slight fatty feel in the mouth. The flavours were mellow, and left a slight peppery kick at the back of the throat. We felt it would blend well with a lighter oil for a salad dressing."

1605 Manchego Semi-Cured

"We liked the nutty aroma of this Manchego and the pale, dense appearance was everything we expected from this type of cheese. The mouthfeel was lovely and clean with the buttery, nutty flavours lingering pleasantly."

Finca La Barca Smoked Olive Oil

 "Impressive smokey aroma with hints of toasted almonds and bitter salad. Creamy mouthfeel and plenty of fruity banana notes. The smoke levels were excellent and added plenty of character and length. We were glad the oil didn't have too fierce a character with too many pepper notes as it would have fought with the smoke."

Sarriegui Spicy Chorizo Crisps

"We really liked the artisan look of these crisps which were not overly uniform. They had a great crunch probably down to the thin cutting. The flavour of the chorizo definitely came through, almost in a meaty way which we really enjoyed. The spicing was well balanced and was not overdone in any way. We liked the fact that both flavour and heat lingered for a good while in the mouth. A jolly good crisp."
